UNI CEI11170-1: Scope
This Part of the Standard defines the measures to be adopted on railway, tramway and guided path vehicles in order to limit the risk of fire and to protect passengers and vehicle crew effectively. Safety measures specified in this Standard apply to all brand-new vehicles, including already operating vehicles that are submitted to total renewal.Fire protection measures, purpose of this Standard, concern:

-      fire behavior of materials and components making up vehicle fittings and electrical parts;

-      fire resisting properties of "fire barriers" and "fire-retardant components";

-      design criteria;

-      safety measures for electric and electronic systems;

-      fire extinguishing, control and signaling systems (e.g.: emergency brake, fire extinguishing systems, detection systems, ventilation system, etc.).
