Safeguard fire fighter entry -- make sure ladders comply with NFPA 1931.
NFPA 1931 Standard for Manufacturer’s Design of Fire Department Ground Ladders provides manufacturers of fire department ground ladders with a set of performance requirements against which new ladders are certified. It specifies the requirements and the design verification testing required for new ground ladders intended for use by fire department personnel for rescue and fire-fighting operations as well as for training.
This 2010 edition of NFPA 1931 includes requirements for multi-purpose ladders and recognizes the installation of multi-purpose ladders in lieu of folding ladders on apparatus. To ensure a minimum duty-rating ladder is employed, this edition also adds a statement of construction specification. (Softbound, 22 pp., 2010)
